About: Peter graduated from the University of New South Wales in July 1976, completed the College of Law Legal Practice course in 1978 and soon after was admitted as an Attorney, Solicitor and Proctor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and was enrolled on the High Court Register in July 1978. After being employed as a solicitor in New South Wales for five years Peter moved his family to Townsville. In 1983 Peter was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and established, with Patrick Griffin, the law firm of Bevan & Griffin in Townsville. Since then Peter has been appointed, and was for a number of years, the Deputy President of the Local Parole Board, a Retail Shop Leases Mediator, and remains an experienced Independent Children's Lawyer and a Separate Representative for Children in Child Protection Cases.
Peter was awarded the "Community Lawyer of the Year" award in 2003, by the Queensland Law Society and the Court of Appeal.
Peter is an Honorary Life Member of Townsville Community Legal Service Inc. In 2008 he was recognised by the Queensland Law Society Inc. as having served Queensland as a solicitor for 25 years.
He is a member of the Queensland Law Society Inc., the North Queensland Law Society and the Townsville District Law Society.
